MX Record Lookup

See which servers receive email for a domain, in priority order, and which provider runs them.

MX (mail exchanger) records list the servers that accept email for a domain. Senders try the lowest priority number first. A domain with no MX record falls back to its own address (A/AAAA record); a single MX of “.” (null MX) means it accepts no email at all.

What does MX priority mean?

Lower numbers are tried first. Equal numbers share the load. Higher numbers are backups.

Can email work without an MX record?

Yes, technically: senders fall back to the domain’s A record. In practice most domains that receive mail publish MX records.
